Abstract: We briefly reviewed the current problems in career support for students with developmental disorders. Specifically, we focused on studies concerning autism spectrum disorder because of the difficulty students with these disorders often face in finding jobs. The majority of studies suggested that the acquisition of basic life skills is essential for a successful transition from the educational setting to the workplace. We also discussed carrier decision-making as it relates to the accuracy of their assumptions about the traits associated with the autism spectrum. However,the effective scale for self-reporting on this matter by adults is limited. The following issues need to be examined in the future: 1)the relation between the traits associated with the autism spectrum and aspects of carrier decision-making through latent parameters, and 2)the selection of important life skills for these students to improve their ability in social interaction and self-organization.
